I like "The Cape in my Closet" mainly because I love all color and I love little "tricks" for the eyes. The stripes left blank made me smile when I took the time to study the painting. Perhaps the colors chosen are meaningful to the artist or to the viewer, but it's what is not there that amuses me.
Reminds me of the soundscreen we used to see before television 'went off' for the night, or during an emergency test. I like it; the colors have a calming effect and it is bold enough to make one stop and think a minute. The simplicity of the design is appealing. Interesting medium choice. Why not?
It's difficult to critique a work of art via reproduction of the actual work on the internet. You get only a trace of the real presence, dimension, vibrancy, subtlety, skill, and thoughtfulness intrinsic in the art. Yet to write that the work is "dumb" suggests more about the individual viewer than the art.

Okay, it's NOT dumb. The 'vibrancy' and 'skill' will make a great pattern for a set of Wal-Mart towels, the favorite shopping store of art critics.
