If you missed this engrossing kick-off of the summer lecture series, here's the FAC's twitter stream from Denver-based artist Monica Petty Aiello's presentation. The artist is known for her intriguing, mixed-media works on panel that fuse her love of craft and content. Monica has spent several years fostering relationships with the NASA community and often consults with noted planetary scientists in the development of her geologically-inspired works. Aiello's lecture took audience members on a tour of the galaxy through images of space. Aiello explored the connections between the vocabulary of art and planetary science.
Color is a tool for #scientists to understand surfaces. Start talking color and NASA would ask "what wavelength?" #Art
