September 2012 Workshops at Bemis

UPDATED - Now including half-day workshops.

Bemis School of Art is back in full Fall swing with a new host of one-day workshops. Hopefully you weren't too Bemis-starved last month when there were no one-day offerings. All classes are for ages 16+, unless otherwise noted. Teachers are listed in the parenthesis.
Sat., 9/15 | 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Creative block? Use this class to expand beyond the traditional pool of visual inspiration and eventually leave class with an emotionally-charged piece.

Sat., 9/22 | 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
$122 (Members $107)
After class, you'll leave with two to three pieces of finished fine silver jewelry. ($50 materials fee)

Sat., 9/22 | 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
$122 (Members $107)
Work with acrylic paints to tap into your Expressionistic self (think Milton Avery, George Biddle, Rico Lebrun -- all artists you can see in the FAC Permanent Collection!). Expressionism is a free and uninhibited way of painting, allowing you to bypass the limitations of objectivity and paint in a totally subjective manner.

Sun., 9/23 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
$83 (Members $68)
Whether you're a beginner or need a quick refresher, explore fundamentals to oil painting. Class combines demonstration and individual instruction.

(Chuck Domitrovich)
Mon., 9/24 | 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
$68 (Members $53)
Amazed by the Japanese Kirie art in the Glass Corridor? Learn another Japanese art technique called Mokume Gane that allows you to craft jewelry from polymer clay.

Fri., 9/28 or Sat., 9/29 | 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
$76 (Members $61)
Explore the four elements while crafting hand-made paper as inspired by nature and Native American art. Supply list.

Sat., 9/29 | 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
$98 (Members $83)
Learn canning, freezing and pickling techniques, complete with recipes to take home and a tasting.

Here's the online registration form  for all classes — or you can mail, fax, or drop off the form to Bemis.
