October 2012 Workshops at Bemis

Some October Bemis workshops have already reached their max class sizes, so enroll quickly to ensure yourself a spot in class, and a day of creative fun!

Work with acrylic paints to tap into your Expressionistic self (think Milton Avery, George Biddle, Rico Lebrun -- all artists you can see in the FAC Permanent Collection!). Expressionism is a free and uninhibited way of painting, allowing you to bypass the limitations of objectivity and paint in a totally subjective manner.




A99 Introduction to Precious Metal Clay 
Sat., 10/20 | 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

After class, you'll leave with two to three pieces of finished fine silver jewelry. ($50 materials fee)

No experience necessary for this class on the centuries-old form of printmaking. ($12 materials fee) Above is a DIY video on the technique.

Awake your inner sculptor through wool manipulation. Needle felting techniques will be demonstrated and you'll leave with two finished projects. ($15 materials fee)

Batik is traditionally a wax-resist dyeing technique used to embellish cloth textiles, but in this class, you'll use Kinwashi rice paper, watercolor paints and wax. This process requires patience, mostly due to the dyeing process, but it's worth it!
