Author Spotlight: Mo Willems


Mo Willems is the author of the children's book Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, which was developed into the musical that will be showing at the FAC March 21-31. Willems was born on February 11, 1968, and grew up in New Orleans. He earned his bachelor's degree from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and now resides in Northampton, Massachusetts with his family.

Willems started his career as a writer and animator for Sesame Street, where he earned 6 Emmy Awards. Since 2003, he has written many children's books, several of which have earned critical acclaim. Knuffle Bunny is a story about a little girl named Trixie, who goes to the laundromat with her father. It was written in 2004, and won the Caldecott Honor in 2005 and a Carnegie Medal in 2007.

The musical is appropriate for all ages, and will feature dancing laundry. That's right, dancing laundry. Who would want to miss out on that?
